Campari Ups Scottish Whisky Ownership

Campari Group CVH Spirits acquisition

On 17 September 2024, Campari Group completed its purchase of a 14.5% minority in the South African company Capevin Holdings, more commonly known as CVH Spirits, which is part of the newly formed Heineken Beverages. The subsidiary, CVH Spirits, was created in 2023 to manage the company's Scottish whisky portfolio after Heineken acquired Distell and the company's underlying Burn Stewart.

CVH Spirits manages a wide whisky portfolio, including Bunnahabhain, Deanston, and Tobermory distilleries, as well as blended whisky brands Black Bottle and Scottish Leader. The company also distributes Angostura Rum in the UK.

The new £69.6 million (US$92m) Campari deal expands the Italian spirits company's presence in Scotland. In addition to the newly acquired stake in CVH Spirits, Campari is also the sole owner of the Glen Grant distillery in Speyside. As part of the deal, Campari Group plans to appoint a board member and has governance rights to safeguard its minority stake.

Campari Group also holds exclusive distribution rights for brands from the CVH Spirits portfolio in France and South Korea.
