Whyte & MacKay has introduced a new line of grain whiskies from the Invergordon distillery. In the 1990s, Invergordon briefly released 10-year-old and 12-year-old whiskies, as well as a seven-year-old version for the Italian market. However, this is the first time in around 30 years that the distillery has offered a core range of products.
The new range caters to the increasing consumer interest in grain whiskies and includes 14, 18, and 21-year-old expressions, representing only a small part of the grain whisky produced at the distillery. The distillery produces about 36,000,000 litres of whisky annually, mainly used for blends.
In 2021, Whyte & Mackay launched a limited edition Invergordon whisky to commemorate the distillery's 60th anniversary, giving consumers a taste of the lesser-known whisky.
The Invergordon grain whisky distillery was established in 1961 in Invergordon, located in the northern Highlands of Scotland. Despite being an unusual location for a grain distillery, Invergordon was built there due to the availability of local crops and easy transportation via a nearby deep water port.
In 1993, the current owner, Whyte & Mackay, acquired the distillery to complement the nearby Dalmore distillery in Alness, resulting in a cluster of sites dedicated to the company's spirit production.

The new range comprises three un-chill filtered whiskies, all aged in a combination of first-fill and refill ex-Bourbon casks. The 14 and 18 are available at 43% ABV, while the 21 is bottled at 46%.
The new packaging and branding have been designed by Stranger & Stranger, also known for their work on some of the most iconic Compass Box labels. The company describes the Invergordon packaging as 'reflecting the unique 1960s character of the distillery and its surrounding locale'.
Even though the new bottlings were first mentioned around June 2023 when they were awarded medals at the 2023 Ultimate Spirits Challenge, it still remains a mystery when and where the bottles can be purchased. This includes the distillery's website, which lists the whiskies without a buying option.
