Lancaster Spirits Co Starts Whisky Production

Lancaster Spirits Company whisky

Located in northwest England, The Lancaster Spirits Co has announced that it has started whisky production at the Whisky Room, a purposely built 'wing' at the distillery and brewery compound. The brewery was established in 2005, followed by the distillery that makes gin and vodka in 2021.

The new single malt distillery was designed and constructed over two years. The Whisky Room is home to a 3,000-liter copper and steel pot still called Constance. It is dedicated to showcasing the production, storage, and tasting of whisky, with a designated area for testing the maturing casks.

"We've invested a seven-figure sum to create this new venture for the Lancaster Spirits Company," said Phil Simpson, managing director of Lancaster Spirits Co.

"We first started planning a whisky business during the Covid shutdown, and it has taken a few years for us to realise our dreams. A real Lancastrian team effort - our sister company, Lancaster Brewery, will brew a special wash specifically for the whisky distillery. Lancaster Spirits Co. takes over the distilling, maturing, and bottling of the whisky—milling, brewing, fermenting, distilling and maturing - all in one place."

The Whisky Room opened for production on Monday, 8 July 2024, and the distillery has launched a private cask program, Lancaster Spirits Co Collective. The distillery is also establishing a Founders Reserve exclusive bottle club in the upcoming weeks, followed by whisky distillery tours later in 2024.

The first single malts are due for bottling in 2027 after the acquired three years of ageing.
